Robinson R22 Beta II

The Robinson R22 is a lightweight piston engined helicopter primarily used for pilot training

General Information  
The Robinson R22 is a two seat, day VFR Helicopter. The minimum flight crew shall consist of one pilot who shall operate the helicopter from the right-hand crew seat.

Flight in Icing Conditions

The R22 helicopter is not approved for flight in Airframe Icing Conditions.

  1. The R22 is particularly susceptible to carburettor icing in certain conditions. Pilots are advised to read fully the Flight Manual and all the safety notices at the back of the Flight Manual that refer to carburettor icing.
  2. The R22 is particularly susceptible to low rotor RPM/main blade striking fuselage type accidents. Pilots are advised to read fully the Flight Manual and all the safety notices at the back of the Flight Manual that are relevant to this subject
